For more than six decades, Pack 4366 and Troop 1366 have helped young people in the Lee’s Summit community discover adventure, develop leadership, serve others, build friendships, and grow into confident young adults.
Our story began in 1959, when one family partnered with community leaders to bring Cub Scouting back to Lee’s Summit. What started with just five Cub Scouts has grown into a Scouting tradition that continues today.
We are proudly chartered by Lee’s Summit Community of Christ Church, where our Pack and Troop have called home for more than 40 years.
Together, Pack 4366 and Troop 1366 provide a pathway through Scouting—from Cub Scouts through Scouting America—giving young people opportunities to learn, lead, explore, serve, and challenge themselves at every stage.
One community. Two programs. More than six decades of Scouting.
The story of Pack 4366 begins with Jim and Mona Jones, who moved to Lee’s Summit in 1954.
Jim and Mona wanted their boys to have the opportunity to participate in Scouting through their church and their local community.
In 1959, Mona approached the RLDS Community of Christ congregation about starting a Cub Scout Pack. The church had previously sponsored a Cub Scout Pack, and it welcomed the opportunity to bring Scouting back.
On April 30, 1959, Pack 366 was officially registered. The first Pack meeting was held on May 28, 1959, with five boys in attendance.
The Cub Scout Pack eventually grew into a much larger program, with as many as eight dens. For more than six decades, generations of parents, volunteers, leaders, and Scouts have continued building on that foundation.
In the early years, Pack meetings and den meetings were held in homes and other community locations as the Pack grew.
In March 1980, a new Community of Christ Church was built at Independence Avenue and Tudor Avenue in Lee’s Summit.
The new building provided enough space for both Pack 366 and Troop 366 to meet at the same location.
More than four decades later, that church remains our home.
Today, we are proud to continue the relationship between Scouting and the Lee’s Summit Community of Christ Church that began when Pack 366 was first organized in 1959.
Scouting doesn't happen without people who are willing to invest their time helping young people.
Over the years, countless parents and adult volunteers have helped Pack 366 and Troop 366 thrive.
They have taught skills and merit badges, organized campouts, led service projects, supported advancement, transported scouts to events, and helped young people become leaders.
Some Scouts eventually return as adult volunteers, continuing the tradition they experienced.
That's what makes Scouting a true community tradition.
Each generation builds on what came before and leaves something behind for the Scouts who come next.
Pack 366 and Troop 366 work together to provide opportunities for young people as they grow through the Scouting program.
While the programs are different, they share the same foundation: adventure, leadership, service, character, and personal growth.
Pack 4366 serves Cub Scouts in kindergarten through 5th grade.
Cub Scouts gives younger Scouts the opportunity to learn through hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, family experiences, and community service.
Pack 366 meets on Tuesday evenings and encourages families to experience Scouting together.
As Scouts grow older, Troop 1366 provides them with opportunities to take greater ownership in their Scouting experience.
Troop 366 meets on Monday evenings and participates in regular campouts, outdoor adventures, service projects, advancement, leadership opportunities, and special activities.
Most importantly, Scouts are given opportunities to lead, solve problems, and learn valuable life skills.
Adults provide safety, guidance, coaching, and support.
Scouts lead. Adults support.
From a Cub Scout fishing derby to a Scouting wilderness survival campout, adventure is at the heart of 366 Scouting.
Our Scouts spend time outdoors learning skills and challenging themselves in ways that can't be replicated in a classroom.
Across our Pack and Troop programs, Scouts have opportunities to explore, learn, lead, serve, and grow. Discover how the Scout program turns today's youth into tomorrow's leaders.
Our connection to Lee's Summit Community of Christ Church dates back to the founding of Pack 4366.
The church supported the creation of the Pack in 1959, and the current church building became the home of Pack 366 and Troop 366 in 1980.
We are grateful for the church's continued support and for the generations of families and volunteers who have helped make this location a home for Scouting in Lee’s Summit.
Pack 4366 and Troop 1366 welcome families from different backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs.
Although our programs are proudly chartered by Lee’s Summit Community of Christ Church, families do not have to be members to participate.
Scouting brings families together around shared values of character, service, leadership, responsibility, and respect.
We believe our community is stronger when young people with different experiences come together.
Scouting is about more than meetings and campouts.
Pack 4366 and Troop 1366 encourage Scouts to look beyond themselves and find ways to make their community better.
Our Scouts participate in service opportunities throughout the year. These experiences teach Scouts that leadership isn't just about being in charge. It's about making a difference.
Pack 4366 and Troop 1366 are part of the Three Trails District in the Heart of America Council, which serves the greater Kansas City area.
Our Scouts participate in district and council activities alongside other Scouts from communities throughout the region.
This gives our Scouts the opportunity to experience Scouting beyond our own Pack and Troop, while building friendships and becoming part of a much larger Scouting community.
For more than 65 years, Pack 366 and Troop 366 have been part of the Lee’s Summit community. But, the most important part of our history isn't what happened decades ago. It's what we're doing today and what the next generation will do tomorrow. Come be a part of our story.
Scouting is only possible thanks to adults who show the scouts the way.
Thanks to our leaders for volunteering your time to make a difference in the life of our scouts.
